August 18, 2015 Day Trip to Westby
On the steps of the Thompson House....
Front row: Morris Tweeten, Geneva Tweeten, Audrey Almo. 2nd row: Glorianne Knox, Lee Grippen, Emma Landsom, Darrell Sinclair, Oranda Sinclair. Back rows: Richard Storlie, Thom Carlson, Janice Dokken, Stewart Storlie, Karen Fried, Judy Melbostad, Georgia Rosendahl.
The Sons of Norway Book Club and anyone who wanted to go with, went to Westby, WI.
First they visited the Thompson House which is the Westby Area Historical Society. Then they stopped at Coon Prairie Church and learned all kinds of info about it from Blaine Hedberg. At this point people were hungry, so everyone enjoyed a great meal at Bergen's.
After lunch they drove out into the country and were totally awed by the amazing rosemalling of Karen Hankee at her house, and the impressive collection of horse/farm/carriages that Karen and her husband have.
Then it was a quick stop to say "hi" to Howard Sherpee....and finally homeward bound.
A very fun, informative day.
